Yemmi is designed with your privacy as a top priority. We believe you should understand exactly what data we collect, why we collect it, and how we protect it.
This policy applies to all users of the Yemmi mobile application.
Information We Collect
Account and Contact Information
- Email address and display name if you sign in with Apple, Google, email, or another supported sign-in method
- User identifiers we create to operate your account, subscription, scans, and privacy choices
- Support messages and contact details if you email us or request help
Device and App Information
- A unique device identifier (generated randomly, not your real device ID)
- Device type and operating system version
- App version
- Basic diagnostic information used to keep the app secure and reliable
Scan Data
- Photos you choose to scan (processed for analysis, not permanently stored on our servers)
- Barcode data from products you scan
- Product names, ingredient labels, nutrition facts, meal notes, and AI-generated analysis results
- Scan timestamps
Optional Profile Information (if you choose to provide it)
- Age, gender, weight, height
- Health goals and dietary preferences
- Allergens and food sensitivities
- Health conditions you wish to share
Purchases and Subscription Data
- Subscription status, product identifier, trial status, purchase history, and entitlement information
- Payment is processed by Apple or the applicable app store. We do not receive your full payment card number.
Usage, Analytics, and Diagnostics
- App events such as screens viewed, scans started, scans completed, plan selection, paywall interactions, and feature usage
- Crash and performance data if crash reporting is enabled for a production build
We do NOT collect:
- Precise location data
- Contacts or calendar
- Data from other apps
- Advertising identifiers for cross-app tracking
How We Use Your Data
We use your information to:
- Provide AI-powered nutritional analysis of scanned products
- Personalize insights based on your dietary preferences and health goals
- Operate accounts, subscriptions, app limits, and customer support
- Improve Yemmi features, quality controls, and product database accuracy
- Understand app usage, diagnose crashes, and prevent abuse
- Provide customer support when you contact us
- Detect and prevent fraud or abuse
We do NOT use your data for:
- Advertising or ad targeting
- Selling to data brokers or third parties
- Creating profiles to sell to marketers
- Training third-party AI models without a separate notice and consent
AI & Third-Party Services
Yemmi uses artificial intelligence to analyze products and meals. When you choose to scan or analyze something, Yemmi may send the relevant photo, barcode, product text, ingredient label, nutrition facts, and limited profile context you provided to third-party AI providers, including OpenAI, so they can generate the requested response.
Do not upload photos, labels, notes, or other content that includes personal information you do not want processed for AI analysis. AI-generated content may be incomplete, outdated, or wrong, and should not be used as medical advice.
Current third-party service providers may include:
- OpenAI — AI analysis of scan images, text, product data, and limited personalization context
- Supabase — authentication, account management, and secure data storage
- RevenueCat — subscription entitlement management and purchase status
- Apple App Store / StoreKit — in-app purchase processing and subscription management
- PostHog — product analytics and usage events, not advertising tracking
- Cloudflare Pages — hosting this website and legal pages
- Cloud hosting providers — secure app hosting, storage, and request processing
- Crash reporting providers, if enabled — crash logs and performance diagnostics used to fix bugs
These providers are required to use your data only to provide services to Yemmi, protect their systems, comply with law, or prevent abuse. We do not authorize these providers to sell your personal data or use it for cross-app advertising tracking.
Important: AI-generated content may contain errors. Always verify critical information with healthcare professionals.
Health Information Disclosure
IMPORTANT: Yemmi is NOT a healthcare provider.
- Health information you provide is optional and used only to personalize nutritional insights
- Your health data is NOT protected by HIPAA as Yemmi is not a covered entity
- We do not share health information with insurance companies, employers, or healthcare providers
- For protected health records, use your healthcare provider's patient portal
If you have concerns about sharing health information, you can use Yemmi fully without providing any health data.
Data Security
We protect your data using:
- Encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS)
- Encrypted storage for sensitive data
- Regular security audits
- Limited employee access on a need-to-know basis
While we implement industry-standard security measures, no system is 100% secure. We encourage you to use unique passwords and keep your device secure.
Your Rights & Choices
You have the right to:
- View your data — See what we've collected in Settings
- Export your data — Download a copy of your data
- Delete your data — Permanently remove all data from our systems
- Opt out of health profile — Use the app without providing health information
- Limit AI sharing — Avoid uploading photos or profile details you do not want processed by third-party AI providers
- Contact us — Ask questions about your data

Data Retention
We retain account, profile, subscription, scan history, meal log, and analytics data for as long as needed to provide Yemmi, maintain security, comply with law, resolve disputes, and support legitimate business needs.
Photos you submit for AI analysis are processed to provide the requested result and are not intended to be permanently stored on our servers after processing, except for temporary technical storage, security logs, backups, or records needed to troubleshoot abuse or errors.
When you delete your account or request deletion in Settings > Data & Privacy, we delete or de-identify data associated with your account or device unless we need to retain limited information for legal, security, fraud-prevention, or accounting reasons.
Children's Privacy
Yemmi is intended for users aged 17 and older and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at hello@plutorock.com and we will promptly delete it.
International Users
Yemmi is operated from the United States. If you are accessing from the European Union, UK, or other regions with data protection laws:
- Your data may be transferred to and processed in the United States
- By using Yemmi, you consent to this transfer
- We comply with applicable data protection requirements including GDPR principles
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by:
- Posting the new policy in the app
- Updating the "Last Updated" date
- Sending an in-app notification for significant changes
Continued use of Yemmi after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
